Another nearby pub is The Trout which has long been a favourite refreshment stop for academics from the University. Parts of some episodes of the Inspector Morse TV series were filmed there.

  Local points of interest for non ringers: Grave of J.R.R.Tolkien author of the 'Lord of the Rings' is in the Roman Catholic section of the Wolvercote Cemetery, about a mile away off the Banbury Road.
