Anthem for the dedication of bells

There are probably a number of known hymns and anthems for Bellringing and its always a welcome treat to discover a few more. Composer and parishioner of St Mary The Virgin, Bampton, Richard Wilkins, has made a setting for choir and organ of "Lift it gently to the steeple" by the famous hymn writer J.M.Neale. These words were written by J.M. Neale for the dedication of a new bell at Bampton on 2nd December 1865. This anthem written in an accessible modern classical style would be suitable for any service connected with bell ringing or bell ringers.

The score can be read, played and printed at

Bell ringers and parishes in Oxfordshire are welcome to contact Richard Wilkins if they wish to borrow (at no charge) a set of sheet music for performance. His contact details can be found on the linked website above.
