Membership
At the end of 2002 there were 2,505 ringing members listed in our annual report. This is an increase over 2001 when we had 2,498 members but down from the 2000 total of 2,651 members.

Peal statistics
In 2002 there were 378 peals rung for the ODG (324 on tower bells and 54 on handbells), the lowest number since 1995. Colin Turner has returned to his familiar role as leading peal ringer with a total of 155 peals. The leading conductor was William Butler who conducted 83 peals and the leading tower was Thatcham with 37 peals.

Quarter peal statistics

Once again the total remains remarkably stable at 860 (840 in 2001 and 859 in 2000) although the distribution has had a different emphasis with many more quarters being rung for royal occasions. Almost 30% of the total are accounted for in those rung for the Jubilee celebrations, the Queen's Accession and the deaths of Princess Margaret and the Queen Mother. Quarters were rung in 219 towers and 5 handbell venues; the leading tower was Marston with 40.
