witney and woodstock 6-bell striking competition 2022

On Saturday 18th June, Freeland hosted the 2022 branch 6-bell striking competition. Our disappointment with the wet weather, the day after a record June heatwave, was tempered by the fantastic catering supplied by the Freeland ringers in the Taunton Room.

Tony Crabtree, our Guild Steward, kindly agreed to judge, albeit from his car due to the inclement weather.

North Leigh and Church Hanborough triumphed in the first contest since the 2019 Combe hosted competition.

The results were:

Call Changes

1st – North Leigh 71 faults

2nd – Church Hanborough 78 faults

Joint 3rd – Combe and Freeland 105 faults

5th – Witney 112 faults

Method

1st – Church Hanborough 50 faults

2nd – North Leigh 58 faults

3rd – Freeland 84 faults

4th – Witney 97 faults.

Our thanks go to Richard White, our Ringing Master, for organising and to George White for time keeping.

Well done everyone who took part.
