Coronation of King Charles III on 6th May 2023

When to ring:

There is not going to be a set time to ring for the Coronation. At the moment we don’t have an indication of the time of the Service at Westminster Abbey, although it is expected to either start at 11 or 11.15. Many bands are planning to ring in the run up to the service (when time is confirmed), however ringing is encouraged at any time convenient to the ringers and Church. As more information is announced we will update accordingly but the time was not known as at 30th March..

November branch practice

The November branch practice sees us return to St Margaret, Mapledurham. Last time we were there for the monthly Saturday meet, I decided to cycle the only route I knew – a very steep climb up the hill from Caversham, followed by an equally scary decent into Mapledurham. I wasn’t much looking forward to the return journey until a fellow ringer informed me of a reasonably flat route that could be taken using a bike. Why not try it out yourself this Saturday (9th November) and join us for a ring? All abilities welcome.

Here’s a map of the route described above, starting from Reading station:

Help contribute to the Reading Branch website

You may have noticed that the images shown at the top of each page are the three central Reading towers. This is no coincidence. They were all taken within about 15 minutes of each other on a nice clear day last year.

Ideally, we would have a photo of every tower in the branch. These would then rotate randomly, ensuring all towers in the branch would get equal positioning at the top of our website. This is where we need your help. We are looking for colourful (ideally with a blue sky) photos of your local tower to include at the top of the page. Most camera phones are capable of taking photos of sufficient quality, so why not get a quick snap on a Sunday morning and send it in?

If you have a photo you would like to see on the site, please send it to webmaster@reading.odg.org.uk

We look forward to seeing the whole branch represented on our home page!
