We have just had a group of call change ringers from Devon visit Shiplake. They rang Devon style call changes with closed handstrokes and each “peal” starts and finishes with the bells down. The attached link is one of their call change “peals” at Shiplake with some extremely impressive striking. I thought it may be of interest to Reading Branch members who may not be familiar with Devon call change ringing.

Bell Ringers Quiz in church hall – Saturday 31st January starting at 7.30pm to raise funds for church and bells maintenance. Tickets £7.50 per person. Teams of 6 (but happy to accept lower numbers).  This has been held for several years with a supper but this year there will only be nibbles so bring extra if you wish plus drinks.  Entries and queries to Jillgrindal@hotmail.com 07950014981

The autumn general committee meeting was held at Kirtlington last Saturday (22nd November).  The minutes will be published in due course but there are a couple of things that I thought might be of general interest:

1. While all ODG none officer members are required to hold the Safeguarding Basic Awareness training certificate officers who are required to hold higher levels of training don’t need to complete Basic Awareness as well.
2. 2026 subs (due 1/1/26) will again be £10 and collected by the old method that you are acustomed to.  It is proving a big issue to resolve all the different ways members pay subs, some are paid by PPCs, some from tower funds, some want to use payment Apps others bank transfer and some Branches add their own subs on top.  Nightmare.
